From the very beginning crafters world wide have been active supporters of our work, collectively they have provided thousands of children and families in need with warm clothes and blankets.
We distribute clothing to children aged 0-16 years and provide blankets to adults and families.
We accept donations all year round and run specific campaigns throughout the year.
What we need:
We always need baby clothes to go into our baby packs- hats, bootees and cardigans. these should be newborn size or 0-3 months. All colours of yarn (including white) may be used.
We need cardigans and jumpers for children age 0-10. Again all colours and types of yarn are preferred and if you feel like making something fancy our girls LOVE things with ribbons and frills!
Blankets- we need these for our baby packs. They should be approximately 20'' square. We also give larger blankets to families so these are also very much appreiated.
Squares- We realise how time consuming it is to make large blankets so to make it easier for everybody we also accept knitted/crocheted squares. Again these can be any colour and made from any type of yarn. We request that they be roughly 5".
This winter we will also be attempting to make dressing gowns/long cardigans made from squares. Each item will take around 115 squares to make so any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Sewing: We are also very appreciative of hand sewn clothing suitable for children up to the age of 10 years. Additionally we need bags to put our baby packs in. These can be any colour and should be approximately the size of an ordinary tote bag, they can have handles or a drawstring.
You may use any patterns you wish.
To give you a few ideas there are some links at the bottom of the page to free patterns. If you have a favourite pattern please submit it via the contat page and it will be added to the list.
Where to send your creations:
Donations should be sent to our UK postal address which can be found on our contact page. They are then parcelled up and shipped to Algeria to be distributed directly to those in need.
A selection of pictures featuring hand-made blankets and clothing that have been donated are regularly posted on our blog so if you are looking for ideas of what to make it is an ideal starting point.
